Tanzania is currently sixty-one percent Christian. However, many of these Christians lack the resources to flourish and reach out. Awaken International helps generate sustainable income for the existing pastors and evangelists.
Tanzania is a country in East Africa, most notable for containing Mount Kilimanjaro and parts of the Serengeti. It is home to 56 million people. Swahili is the national language.
Thankfully, sixty-one percent of the population is Christian. However, there is still a long way to go and the existing ministers need support in order to continue serving.
Pastor Petro of Olkolili, Tanzania has such a tender heart and a passion to improve lives. Not only is he a pastor of a great church, but has a school with roughly 300 children, who are either orphans or children from very poor families. Petro’s dream is to start church planting near the coast of Tanzania, where there is less Christian influence.
With the help of Awaken International, Pastor Petro has been able to start a chicken farm which now has over 1,500 chickens, and a dairy farm of approximately 20 cows.
